It is an operating system belonging to the family BSD. And this is a operating system that is independent, so It is not based on any other system how could it be Debian or OpenSUSE. It was originally created in USA. Use the following desktop environments: AfterStep, Awesome, Blackbox, Enlightenment, Fluxbox, GNOME, IceWM, KDE Plasma, LXDE, Openbox, WMaker, Xfce.
Xfce is a desktop environment lightweight by this is ideal for PC’s with low computing power. The KDE Desktop is the great alternative to Gnome, the most used desktop in linux. It is highly customizable and somewhat heavy but less so than Gnome. LXDE is a famous desktop for Linux which aims to be light and elegant at the same time.
